Manage last years Security Groups?

How can I best manage the previous years security groups for AD Accounts in AD using the Directory Manager?

There is a setting in the Directory Template Wizard that states “Remove and reassign groups not assigned by this agent”. This will remove all security groups for each user, and apply only the security groups that the agent is configured to set.

To find this setting

  1. Click File > Agent Settings…
  2. Select Directory Template in the left column > Click Run Template Wizard…
  3. Click Next until you are on the page labeled Student Security Group Settings.
  4. Check the box that states “Remove and reassign groups not assigned by this agent”
  5. Once that option is selected keep hitting next until the wizard is completed.
  6. With this option selected only Security groups that the SDM agent is configured to add will be applied to each student.

This will remove all security groups that were added manually in AD.

After making this change, shutdown and restart the Directory Manager, and begin your synchronization process to reset all security groups.
