Verifying that SIF_Events are being sent to the SIF Zone

Symptoms:

Student records are missing from subscribing agents.
Most subscribing SIF agents require SIF_Events (Adds and Changes) to keep the application updated after a manual synchronization.  If you are missing records in your subscribing applications after having previously being synchronized, one of the first things to verify is that the Student Information System (SIS) SIF agent is actively publishing data to the SIF Zone.  The 'Activity view' in Kimono SIF Zone services displays the messages sent to/from a SIF agent or Zone and can be filtered by Events.  This allows for a simple and effective place to start troubleshooting.
 

Accessing the Kimono SIF Zone Services 'Activity view':

     Log in at kimonocloud.com

     Click 'Clouds' from the top menu
     

     Click Kimono SIF Zone Services

     Locate a Zone that you know has had changes made within the SIS

     Click the SIS SIF agent name
     

     Click 'Activity'
     

     Click Events to show only the Events published by PowerSchool
     

  • Note:  The Event view only shows events published in the last 14 days.  If the Event view is empty, no Events have been published by the SIS in the last 14 days.



Interpreting the results:

  • No messages are listed:  
    Contact the SIS SIF agent vendor.  They will need to assist with troubleshooting why the SIS SIF agent is not publishing adds/changes made in the SIS to the SIF Zone.  If the Event view is empty, no Events have been published by the SIS in the last 14 days.
     
  • Events are listed, but not as recent as expected:
    Contact the SIS SIF agent vendor.  They will need to assist with troubleshooting why the SIS SIF agent is not publishing adds/changes recently made in the application to the SIF Zone. 
     
  • If you see the event sent by the SIS SIF agent:
    You can verify that the subscribing agent received the same event by following the same instructions and instead selecting the subscribing SIF agent.  If the event is not visible in the subscribing SIF agent's Activity view it may be an issue with mismatched SIF versions.
     
  • Events visible in the Activity view for both the SIS agent and the corresponding subscribing agents:
    Contact the subscribing SIF agent vendor to troubleshoot how/if the event was processed.
